CIR Labels Report: Prospects for Label Presses 2009
Click for brochure and contents
We first made this report available to you in late April 2009. The work was funded originally in part by leading OEMs in the market. It was well-received. The aim of the report is to provide you with intelligence on the emerging labels market in Europe, through new (Q4 2008) evidence from label print service provider directors in four regions: UK, Central Europe (German speaking areas, France and Poland), Benelux, Scandinavia. It will help directors make decisions or refinements on decisions on strategy, development, research, budget, pricing, and how to market and engage with the market.
This report gives you novel insights. Interviews were in-depth rather than short multiple-choice, always with directors of the labellers who buy the printing presses and finishing systems. The interviews asked questions of the end-user decisionmakers on buying decisions for digital, and analysed whether they were rational or not, and in what ways.
The report also brings together independent new market forecasts for a sensible timeframe to 2015, based on the new comments on how business is going for our sample. It brings out the expected dynamic between flexo and digital.
The CIR ROI/NPV/Breakeven model for the end-user is run for data provided by the sample on all their business costs, for five cases of digital or conventional label presses.
Run-length average and maximal comparisons are given for flexo and digital.
The report gives the market psyche and technical economic envelopes for digital and found them not to be the same!
This 2009 report was written by Justin Hayward (CIR) in association with Mike Willis (Pivotal Resources and IMI Europe).
